I am a 32 year old wife, mother, and speech-language pathologist in an elementary school. I LOVE my family, I LOVE CrossFit and I LOVE my life. I have been CrossFitting for nearly 3 years and I can honestly say that over the years it has saved my marriage, my sanity, and my overall well-being… Dramatic, I know, but if you know me you know that dramatic is my style. But in all honesty, I joined Islip CrossFit one month after my husband in 2014 at which time I was in a rough spot in my professional life and medically had some tough stuff going on, and it all really impacted my home life with my husband and daughter. My husband pushed me into this after his first month at Islip CrossFit and I haven’t looked back since. I am more confident, happier, and more balanced than I have been in my adult life because of the lifestyle I now lead. I am still learning so much and continue to reap the many benefits of this lifestyle. My hopes for this blog are that it finds people who feel badass because they have control of their life, find happiness in their choices, and are proud of who they are, because CrossFit has helped me find my bad ass-ness– and it feels too good not to share!
Michelle: I am 30 years old, married to the love of my life, no kids yet – but likely soon, full-time job, and have a serious love for gainz! I have been crossfitting for 2.5 years and it just keeps getting better. I started crossfitting on a whim. I was getting married in 9 short months and my goal was to be in the best shape possible so I would feel great, but mostly not regret the way I looked in the photos. I had heard of CrossFit from a few different people so I went online and found a groupon for a box that was located in between work and home (at the time). Little did I know what I was about to discover. Christine, my fellow swole sister, blog mate, and great friend had the idea of starting a blog for our box, Islip CrossFit, and when we put our heads together, we knew it could be much more! I am by no means an expert, but working out with our expert coaches has been the best experience and my passion for this sport has exceeded what I could have imagined. My hopes for this blog are that people read, share, laugh, relate, and learn.
